Message from SOCHICHI...Ohh and Winter Jackets

Do you believe 2013 is over? Every year it's the same phrase and state of disbelief, that the years are racing forward. Due to this phenomenon, every moment in time should be given your full presence. I know yeah, this can be difficult however think of it as respect for time and making the most of it.

Now get excited about life in the new year! New horizons, ambitions, plans, travels, people, ideas, fashion, art, music. Embrace Life Now and Ahead and discover new challenges that grow you as a person!

Happy Holidays to everyone  that's taken a moment of time to view my Blog, You Are Appreciated!! New Year, Bigger New Blog Ideas, Stay Tuned...

Ohh and am I the only one who feels strongly averse to Canada Goose, TNA, and Fur trim hooded winter jackets? I see them on every other person I see. Ok yes the Goose is warm, TNA is TNA, the fur is a flash of luxury however don't get caught in the hype. I know your friend has one but in the future take some time to discover the other options. Its already too late now to get a winter Jacket if you live in the cold zones of world, chances are your sticking with your choice until next season. However here are some styles for thought.

THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS (LBD)

I am so tired of the little black "IT" dress! Can fashion editors out there please red eye something new, to invade, and stir up our holiday wardrobe. I have been searching high and low for interesting holiday attire and really, quite frankly I am not impressed. Everything that does catch my eye has a price tag I rather not mention. I would love to see a couture holiday collection with H&M or Forever XX1, or even BEBE, and ZARA, maybe hmmm (WINNERS)? for the everyday girls that love fashion, however don't want to spend there rent/mortgage payments on looking their best! Here are a few Holiday dresses that caught my eye, and OHH and yes I think sequins are HOT this year with embellished designs!! LBD RANT to be contnued...

PREEN! PREEN! PREEN! ALDO COLLABORATION

Image: www.preen.eu.

Preen x Aldo Rise – a collaboration! I love shoes no doubt, however the shoe world needs to calm down over team AldoPreen. Get it together! Great swanky new shoes will hit the market again and I agree the new footwear is impressive! Available at Aldo stores and online next week, sources say. Excuse my bitter tone, I may be entering the winter doom gloom phase, as it is getting colder, and I don't have the luxury of living in hmm L.A where I can wear beautiful shoes all day without leg warmers.

The Preen designers, yes there are two not one: Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi are quite experimental with there 2014 Spring collection. Busy, futuristic, graphic patterns, asymmetrical cuts, and whimsical artistic free flowing spirit resonate throughout the collection. Below are pieces from the 2014 Spring Collection.

WORLD MASTERCARD TORONTO FASHION WEEK: WHO CARES?

I want to know who cares about Toronto Fashion Week? This is a legitimate question. Who cares besides the participating designers, advertisers, promoters and staff partaking to execute this Canadian stage show. Canadian designers are having a difficult time competing with international house hold names like Tom Ford, who has an entire song dedicated to his shoe brand by the Magna Carta Holy Grail of hip hop. You are not cool right now if you are not rocking the hell out of Tom Ford's. If you live in a tunnel the track is by Jay Z and its called Tom Ford.

Can Canadian designers compete with brand heavy weights flying off Holt Renfrew shelves? The answer is no, because that requires serious $$$, which most of these local designers don't have. Can they create buzz that just may open doors to international designer status? Yes. How well do Canadian designers creatively market themselves? Who are you Canadian designers? Where is the HYPE? Where are the interviews with designers on The Marilyn Dennis Show, Cityline, The Social? I recommend  more Star power, to do what Beyonce just did with Amsterdam's Zoe Karssen's Creme de la Creme sweater, on a larger scale what Michelle Obama did for Jason Wu, and lastly what Kate Middleton did for Canadian designer Tara Jarmon. In all honesty I would care more if I knew which A-lister's were attending Toronto Fashion week. I believe Ciroc is a sponsor of the show...Where is Mr. Sean John in the Flesh? Honestly!!Ohh and where is DRAKE Canadian home grown talent? Did he even get an invite?

CULOTTES VS MIDI LENGTH SKIRT

Fashion goddesses around the world, have been spotted at the hottest designer shows, in the latest season trends. However, some styles don't make my fall red carpet such as: Culottes. They are not flattering in the least, no curvature appeal, no allure, not stylish, sorry Culotte lovers, these pants should only be seen at the Circus please! I totally understand, some days ladies we don't gravitate to full unveiling of our wonderful gift called legs, and you don't care for a skirt. Trust me the midi skirt is by far a more flattering option, and shows just as much leg as the culottes. Toss those pants, and opt for the mid length skirt. The mid length has much more character, elegance and charm. Wear cropped top to add boldness and edge.

Creme de la Creme Love

This sweater is awesome! No, not because Queen Bey was spotted in it! It is full of attitude, and Dope girl status. We all want the best of the best ladies! I have no doubt due to Beyonce's star power this sweater is now a SOLD OUT stock item. Personal preference: black sweater. The brain child behind the collection is Amsterdam resident Zoe Karssen, who started her own brand back in 2010.

TIFF: TIS THE SEASON 2013

The TIFF buzz is electric, and climaxing with growing anticipation to see Hollywood Ladies and Gents.
The hotel prices are rather exorbitant on the eve of TIFF, so be prepared to make it rain with your wallet. For the celebrity hunters, I'm talking to the bloggers, journalists, and anyone wanting to star gaze until wee hours of the morning, to get the juice on who's with who, and what they're wearing, many bars are extending hours to 4 am Downtown. The Drake Hotel, Ritz Carlton Hotel, Fox & Fiddle, and  Soho House to name a few. Yorkville in Toronto is the infamous hot spot for celebs, so add it to your GPS..

Now let's talk what makes TIFF; The Films! My top 5 films are 12 Years a Slave a nineteen century memoir; staring Chiwetel Ehjiofor and Brad Pitt; Gravity with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney; Belle: a true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle; All is By My Side: staring Outkast's Andre Benjamin as Jimi Hendrix; Blue is the Warmest Color: named one of the best films at Cannes. As Toronto Hollywood North kicks off the weekend festivities, I hope the clear skies stay in tune.

Celine and Prada Fall Fashion 2013

I decided to experiment with my images...but whether you like it or not, life goes on! The Celine hand bags below, are the colors I'm loving in her Winter 2013 collection. The dark brown accented by a lighter brown adds perfect contrast, and Ohh that dark rich green is savoring. Love this color! The green is like this yummy good for your health vegetable you want to take everywhere. Let's not forget the black plonge pleated leather skirt, which will work perfectly with any color, (effect; may leave your  co-workers mysteriously intrigued, but we want this right?). Lastly, the sexy fall patent boot with the thick heel screams character. The boot below is by Prada. Fall is my favorite season to mix and match, without breaking a sweat. Cheers to Fall!

Alexander McQueen Kaleidoscope Print Leggings

Looking for leggings? Ohh but not your regular ordinary ones right? Alexander McQueen kaleidoscope-print leggings, put more than funk in your step. These high fashion leggings are an instant eye full. Full of color and life these leggings will definitely garner attention, wanted or unwanted. Awaken your rebellious side,( I believe these are twerk appropriate). Zoe Saldana, is seen in the leggings below.

Azzedine Alaia Ankle Boots

Mountainous inch heels look mighty monstrous and fierce on Baddie Bey. These Azzedine Alaia's are full of attitude, and character. Beyonce makes them look light and airy, (like could we all walk like Bey in these Azzedine heels?) These man eaters would look even more show stopping in a ruffled skirt, and chunky accessories. Azzedine Alaia ankle boots are HOT in my books.
