PREEN! PREEN! PREEN! ALDO COLLABORATION

Image: www.preen.eu.

Preen x Aldo Rise – a collaboration! I love shoes no doubt, however the shoe world needs to calm down over team AldoPreen. Get it together! Great swanky new shoes will hit the market again and I agree the new footwear is impressive! Available at Aldo stores and online next week, sources say. Excuse my bitter tone, I may be entering the winter doom gloom phase, as it is getting colder, and I don't have the luxury of living in hmm L.A where I can wear beautiful shoes all day without leg warmers.

The Preen designers, yes there are two not one: Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi are quite experimental with there 2014 Spring collection. Busy, futuristic, graphic patterns, asymmetrical cuts, and whimsical artistic free flowing spirit resonate throughout the collection. Below are pieces from the 2014 Spring Collection.

WORLD MASTERCARD TORONTO FASHION WEEK: WHO CARES?

I want to know who cares about Toronto Fashion Week? This is a legitimate question. Who cares besides the participating designers, advertisers, promoters and staff partaking to execute this Canadian stage show. Canadian designers are having a difficult time competing with international house hold names like Tom Ford, who has an entire song dedicated to his shoe brand by the Magna Carta Holy Grail of hip hop. You are not cool right now if you are not rocking the hell out of Tom Ford's. If you live in a tunnel the track is by Jay Z and its called Tom Ford.

Can Canadian designers compete with brand heavy weights flying off Holt Renfrew shelves? The answer is no, because that requires serious $$$, which most of these local designers don't have. Can they create buzz that just may open doors to international designer status? Yes. How well do Canadian designers creatively market themselves? Who are you Canadian designers? Where is the HYPE? Where are the interviews with designers on The Marilyn Dennis Show, Cityline, The Social? I recommend  more Star power, to do what Beyonce just did with Amsterdam's Zoe Karssen's Creme de la Creme sweater, on a larger scale what Michelle Obama did for Jason Wu, and lastly what Kate Middleton did for Canadian designer Tara Jarmon. In all honesty I would care more if I knew which A-lister's were attending Toronto Fashion week. I believe Ciroc is a sponsor of the show...Where is Mr. Sean John in the Flesh? Honestly!!Ohh and where is DRAKE Canadian home grown talent? Did he even get an invite?

CULOTTES VS MIDI LENGTH SKIRT

Fashion goddesses around the world, have been spotted at the hottest designer shows, in the latest season trends. However, some styles don't make my fall red carpet such as: Culottes. They are not flattering in the least, no curvature appeal, no allure, not stylish, sorry Culotte lovers, these pants should only be seen at the Circus please! I totally understand, some days ladies we don't gravitate to full unveiling of our wonderful gift called legs, and you don't care for a skirt. Trust me the midi skirt is by far a more flattering option, and shows just as much leg as the culottes. Toss those pants, and opt for the mid length skirt. The mid length has much more character, elegance and charm. Wear cropped top to add boldness and edge.

Creme de la Creme Love

This sweater is awesome! No, not because Queen Bey was spotted in it! It is full of attitude, and Dope girl status. We all want the best of the best ladies! I have no doubt due to Beyonce's star power this sweater is now a SOLD OUT stock item. Personal preference: black sweater. The brain child behind the collection is Amsterdam resident Zoe Karssen, who started her own brand back in 2010.
